Captain Ralph

Captain Ralph Mason Jr. is a North Carolina native. The Mason family has been in North Carolina since 1782. Captain Ralph learned to fish from his Dad who competed in the Bassmaster Pro-Am Fishing Tournament Trail and the Coors Light Bass Angler Tournament series during the 1970s and 1980s. Captain Ralph started fishing in local bass fishing tournaments along the Yadkin River Valley at age 18. He fished the circuit on weekends for almost 10 years.

The Mason family maintained a coastal vacation home on Currituck Sound at the Northern Outer Banks of North Carolina. Those waters are full of Stripers, White Perch and Ducks. Many weekends were spent with local fishermen in the waters from Currituck Sound to the Albemarle Sound. The Outer Banks offered amazing fishing opportunities and provided Captain Ralph with a rich history of boat building.

Captain Ralph found his true love, Sport Fishing, after meeting a local king mackerel fisherman who exposed him to hard striking, fast swimming, large offshore fish.

The Mason family transitioned to Morehead City to chase BIG FISH at the Crystal Coast!

Captain Ralph obtained his Charter Boat Captain’s License (OUPV/SixPack) in 2006 and has been running sport fishing boats in the area of Cape Lookout to the Gulf Stream for 16 years. He currently serves as the proud Captain of Southern Breeze which is a 34-foot Buddy Harris Custom Carolina Express Sport Fisher.

Captain Ralph will navigate the boat to proven locations and provide world class equipment. He enjoys teaching basic techniques to new anglers of all ages and gets excited seeing guests having a great day fishing!
